The Faces Behind Seaside Smiles

Get to know the passionate professionals at Seaside Smiles Dental, who are dedicated to offering exceptional care with each visit.

Falyn MacDonald

Owner/RDH

Falyn grew up in Montague, PEI. After high school, she attended the University of New Brunswick (UNB), graduating in 2009 with a major in Psychology. She continued her education at Dalhousie University, earning her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2012.

Following her graduation, Falyn returned to PEI with her husband, settling in Brudenell, where they currently reside with their three children.

Outside of work, you can often find Falyn cheering on her kids at the rink or ballfield. She also enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling, and relaxing with family and friends.

Alyssia Maschke​

Dental Hygienist

Alyssia grew up in Ontario but has always felt most at home on the shores of PEI. With a passion for both people and science, she pursued a career in the dental field, earning her diplomas in dental assisting (1999) and dental hygiene (2007) in Ontario. After relocating with her family to Souris in 2020, Alyssia began working for Dr. Jack and quickly grew fond of the warm and welcoming island community. She and her family are currently restoring a century-old farmhouse in Bridgetown while embracing island life.

Outside of work, Alyssia enjoys beach walks year-round, crafting, spending time with loved ones, and volunteering alongside her husband in construction and disaster relief efforts throughout the Maritimes. She is excited to return to work in Souris, where her love for the island first began.

Hannah MacPhee

Dental Hygienist

Hannah grew up in Sydney, NS, and pursued her education at St. Francis Xavier University, where she earned a B.Sc. in 2014. She then continued her studies at Dalhousie University, completing her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2016. After gaining experience as a dental hygienist in British Columbia for two years, Hannah relocated to Souris, PEI, in 2018. She now resides in Souris West with her husband and two children.

In her free time, Hannah enjoys gardening, walking her dog, playing board games, spending time outdoors with her kids, and relaxing at the beach.

Megan Carter

Dental Assistant

Megan grew up in Caribou Island, N.S., in a fishing family with deep roots in the Maritimes. After graduating from Holland College’s Level II Dental Assisting program in 2010, she spent a year working in Charlottetown before joining the Military as a Dental Technician (DENT TECH). Over her military career, Megan served at CFB Wainwright, Alberta, and CFB Halifax, where she was promoted and completed various advanced training courses. In April 2022, she retired and returned to the Island to be closer to her family.

Now settled back home, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband, their six-year-old child, and their family dog. Whether working on DIY projects, fishing, or relaxing by the beach, she cherishes the simple pleasures of Island life.

Dr. Tara Sutherland

Dentist

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Sutherland to our community and practice! With a heart for small-town values and a commitment to building lasting relationships, Dr. Sutherland brings not only clinical excellence but also a genuine passion for caring for families and individuals in Souris and surrounding communities.

A graduate of Dalhousie University, Dr. Sutherland has experience in all facets of family dentistry and preventive.She is dedicated to making dental visits feel relaxed, personal, and effective. Dr. Sutherland chose PEI not just as a place to work, but as a place to call home, and looks forward to getting to know each patient beyond the dental chair.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Sutherland enjoys spending time with her two sport junky children and goofy Newfoundland dog, and is eager to become an active member of the community.

Jessica Green

Dental Assistant

Originally from Cape Breton Island, Jessica moved to Prince Edward Island in 2022 and now calls Souris home. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Holland College in 2023 and has been passionate about helping patients feel confident in their smiles ever since.

Jessica’s love for dentistry started early, spending much of her own childhood in the dental chair due to orthodontic challenges. Experiencing firsthand the transformation a healthy, beautiful smile can bring inspired her to pursue a career where she could help others feel that same joy.

Outside of the office, Jessica enjoys family life in Souris with her fiancé, a local fisherman, and their young son. They are proud to have planted roots in the community and couldn’t be happier to call it home.

Jamie Cheverie

Receptionist

Originally from Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, Jamie Cheverie moved to Prince Edward Island 16 years ago after meeting her husband, local Matthew Cheverie, while attending college. She earned her certification in Early Childhood Education and spent several years working in daycares before transitioning into her current role as an Educational Assistant at ELBC.

Jamie is the proud mom of two teenage sons, Quinten and Jaxon, and shares her home with a dog and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and soaking up the sun at the beach, playing pickleball and volleyball, and getting competitive with a good game of crokinole or crib.
